The Definitive Stair Runner

"Welcome every guest with a ‘wow’ moment the second they step inside. Don’t worry if you feel a little smug...”

THE CRAFT

Handwoven on Heritage Looms

Every Sophie Cooney runner is handwoven on traditional wooden looms in the rug‑making heartlands of Turkey and India, where these techniques have been refined over generations. The result is a weave with real character: you can see the hand of the maker in every line of pattern, and feel the difference the moment you step onto the stairs.

WHAT TO EXPECT

PRICING GUIDE

Curious what each material might cost? Think of this as a ballpark guide to our stair runner pricing by material. Final costs will always depend on your staircase dimensions, layout and any extra installation work, but the ranges below are a helpful starting point.

AMULET WOOL RUNNERS
Approx £3000+ per Standard Flight

Amulet Wool runners start from approximately £3,000 for a standard straight flight, woven in our most premium, beautifully soft yet hard‑wearing wool. This ballpark is based on a typical staircase; wider flights, extra landings, turns or more complex layouts will naturally sit higher, and your final quote will always reflect the exact measurements and details of your home.

RAW COTTON RUNNERS
Approx £1500+ per Standard Flight

For a standard straight staircase, giving you that relaxed, beautifully natural look at a more accessible price point than wool. This guide price is based on a typical flight; wider staircases, additional landings, winders or more intricate layouts will require more material, so your final quote may sit higher once your exact measurements are confirmed.

RUSTIC JUTE RUNNERS
Approx £1500+ per Standard Flight

For a standard straight staircase, delivering that distinctive natural texture and character at a more approachable price. This guide price assumes a typical flight; wider stairs, landings, winders or more complex layouts will use additional material and fitting time, so your exact quote will be tailored to your home’s measurements.

BESPOKE COLOURWAYS
£320 Bespoke Fee

Looking for something truly unique? Every Sophie Cooney runner is hand‑woven by skilled artisans using naturally dyed yarns. For an additional £320 bespoke fee, any of our Amulet Wool or Raw Cotton designs can be customised from this colour palette to create a runner that is completely your own.

Good to know

Will it fit my specific staircase?

Almost certainly. Our runners can be installed on straight runs, winders, and landings. We can guide you through measuring tricky turns, or connect you with a professional fitter who can handle complex shapes.

Is it easy to keep clean?

Yes. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and repels dirt. Regular vacuuming is usually all it takes, but for muddy households, flatweaves are tough enough to handle a professional clean if needed.

How long does weaving a bespoke heritage runner take?

Our lead times vary by weave. For raw cotton or jute expect approx 8-12 weeks, or for amulet wool expect approx 12-20 depending on the complexity of the design and the materials chosen. It’s a slow, careful process because each piece is woven by hand on traditional looms, specifically for your home. Think of it less like buying a product off a shelf and more like commissioning a piece of art—it takes a long time to create, but the result is something truly unique that you’ll enjoy for years.International orders may take slightly longer.
