Can I customise my runner?

You can tweak the design or colour of our runners for a one-off bespoke cost. We do not currently make bespoke Raw Cotton or Jute runners.

Installation

Below are some common questions about installation.

Do You Offer a Fitting Service?

Yes, we offer a professional fitting service depending on your location and the specifics of your project. Please contact us with the site address and project details, and we’ll advise on availability. While we typically provide a fitting quote after the order is processed (due to the weaving time of the runner), we can offer an estimate beforehand. Please note that fitting costs are not included in the price of the runner.

Can I use my own fitter?

Yes, you are welcome to use your own fitter, provided they have experience and are skilled in installing stair runners. We offer fitting guiedlines and can liaise with your fitter if needed. If there is any uncertainty about the installation process, please contact us before proceeding.

Do I need Stair Rods?

Traditionally, stair rods were used to secure runners in place, allowing for easy removal and cleaning. Runners are now securely fitted to the staircase without the need for rods. While not essential, stair rods remain a decorative option for those who prefer a traditional aesthetic.

Do I need underlay?

We recommend that our runners are fitted over a thin, high quality underlay e.g. This is provided as part of the fitting service.

Waterfall Style or Wrapped style?

While the waterfall style is suitable for our Wool runners, Raw Cotton runners are more future-proof when installed using the wrapped method. Waterfall installation is not recommended for winder steps on either 100% Wool or Raw Cotton. Please contact us for our fitting guidelines for detailed instructions, including a video on installing winders.

Materials

Below are some common questions about our products

What is the difference between your 100% Wool, Raw Cotton and Jute runners?

Our Wool runners are the strongest stair runners out there and will literally last a lifetime...and beyond.

Our Raw Cotton runners are also durable, however they will fade in colours gradually on the nose of each tread after around five years, giving it a more lived-in look (like a pair of well-worn, well-loved denim jeans!).

Our Jute runners are also very durable and will retain their colour. They are slightly more forgiving with dirt due to their slightly rustic texture.

What is the composition and pile of your Wool runners?

Our Wool runners are made in Turkey using a kilim technique - tightly handwoven in the traditional way on a loom. Kilim rugs are flat weave which means they have no pile and as a result are highly durable and more practical to clean.

How Do I Care for My Stair Runner?

Proper installation over a high-quality underlay will enhance the longevity of your runner. Regular maintenance is essential—vacuum frequently to remove dirt and grit, which can contribute to wear and tear. If you require detailed care instructions, please contact us.
